How to Prepare Your Property for Winter Snow Removal
The best snow removal season starts before the first flake. A little preparation in fall prevents the two most common winter headaches: damaged lawn edges and the “we never confirmed the terms” scramble during the first nor’easter.
Mark what the plow cannot see
Walkway edges, lawn borders, sprinkler heads, landscape lighting — anything within a few feet of the driveway or walks. Reflective driveway markers are cheap and save expensive repairs.
Trim back branches
Low limbs over the driveway collect snow, sag, and snap — or force the plow to detour. A fall pruning pass over drive and walk areas pays for itself.
Confirm terms in writing
Before the season: what triggers a visit (accumulation depth)? What is the price per tier? Are walkways included? What about de-icing? Get it confirmed — our customers get snowfall-tier pricing in writing before winter.
Prep checklist
